I graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor's Degree in English. I am very passionate about stories. I believe stories are able to convey ideas and concepts in a way that is meaningful and they have helped me develop my philosophy as a teacher. While I was in college, I was required to complete a science lab. I am not a big fan of science and had been putting off taking a science course as long as possible. I was worried that I wouldn't do well in the course, but I wound up having a professor who was extremely passionate about the subject. Having a professor who was so passionate got me excited about a topic I dreaded taking. This taught me that if I had this same type of passion for my own subject as a teacher, I could have the same impact on students that my science professor had on me. Subsequent professors taught me the value of allowing students time in class to discuss topics and to do everything possible to make sure every student succeeds. I have taken these lessons and added them to my philosophy as a tutor. Outside of school, I enjoy playing with my pets, writing, and reading.
